RSKIP-553: Network Upgrade Vetiver

Hello to the Rootstock community!

A network upgrade proposal has been recently published and is open for discussion.

This proposal introduces several consensus protocol improvements across Mainnet and Testnet, with the primary goal of laying the groundwork for the future introduction of Union Bridge, a more trust-minimized bridge leveraging BitVMX technology, as well as Account Abstraction. Additionally, one Testnet-only RSKIP is being proposed as part of an incremental rollout strategy, enabling validation in a less critical environment before Mainnet deployment.

Here are the most relevant improvements proposed for inclusion in the Vetiver upgrade:

  1. RSKIP-535: (Testnet-only) Add the baseEvent field to the Block header extension

  2. RSKIP-540: Bridge method getEstimatedFeesForNextPegOutEvent improvements and new parameterized method

  3. RSKIP-544: Reject new contract code starting with the 0xEF byte

  4. RSKIP-552: Improve Blake2F input validation

We warmly invite the community to participate in open discussions, share insights, and suggest further improvements. Your feedback is essential to shaping the future of Rootstock.

Thank you for your continued support and engagement!

Nice to see this one coming down the rails. One of those upgrades which will have a significant pay off over time especially with account abstraction, parallel execution, and the direction of bridging. Amazing job crew.
