Hello to the Rootstock community!
A network upgrade proposal has been recently published and is open for discussion.
This proposal primarily focuses on improvements to the PowPeg, aiming to enable more pegnatories to participate and to significantly reduce the cost of pegging out.
Additionally, several Testnet-only RSKIPs are being proposed as part of an incremental rollout strategy that enables validation in a less critical environment before Mainnet deployment. Some of these RSKIPs are related to the Union Bridge initiative—which is still pending community discussion—and aim to establish a more trust-minimized bridge leveraging BitVMX technologies.
Here are the key proposed improvements slated for inclusion in Reed:
- RSKIP-305: Peg-out efficiency improvement (Segwit)
- RSKIP-144: Parallel Transaction Execution for the Unitrie (Testnet-only)
- RSKIP-502: Union Bridge Integration: New Methods Added to PowPeg Bridge Contract (Testnet-only)
- RSKIP-516: Precompiled contracts for +/* on Secp256k1 (Testnet-only)
This proposal represents an initial step, and we warmly invite the community to participate in open discussions, share insights, and suggest further improvements. Your feedback is essential to shaping the future of Rootstock.
We also plan to host a community call in July 2025 to explore these proposed changes in more depth.
Thank you for your continued support and engagement!
